Trauma Therapy with Brandee, PLLC
Brandee Mertz, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
I offer a variety of different treatment modalities, with a specialization in trauma and evidence-based treatments for PTSD. My clinical career and experience thus far has consisted of working in a child advocacy center supporting children and families affected by trauma and abuse, as well as working for the state as a behavioral health therapist supporting adults with severe mental illness and substance use. Prior to my clinical career I worked with people with developmental disabilities for over 6 years. Therapy is not “one-size-fits-all”. I utilize an integrative and holistic approach to mental health that combines various therapeutic techniques to help improve a person’s mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing.

Trauma
Trauma is a distressing event that causes an emotional response or trauma symptoms that negatively impact an individual's ability to cope and/or function.
Trauma is not just about the traumatic event itself, but also the individual's subjective experience of it. What one person finds traumatic, another might not.
It can affect a person's sense of safety, self-esteem, and ability to form healthy relationships and attachments.
Trauma therapy is a specialized form of counseling designed to help individuals process and heal from trauma. It focuses on addressing the emotional, psychological, and physical impacts of trauma and aims to reduce symptoms while also promoting resilience and coping skills.
